Yamaha Motor Company has introduced the 2026 Tricity 300, bringing a major safety upgrade that sets it apart from typical scooters.

- Powered by 292cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine delivering 28 PS and 29 Nm
- Gets an integrated rider airbag positioned in the front apron
- Features a 4.2-inch TFT screen with smartphone connectivity and a secondary 2.8-inch LCD

The highlight is an integrated rider airbag, a feature commonly found in cars but now adapted for a production scooter for the first time. Developed in partnership with Autoliv, the airbag is positioned in the front apron and is designed to deploy in the event of a frontal collision, offering added protection for urban commuters.

Powering the Tricity 300 is a 292cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine delivering 28 PS and 29 Nm. The motor has been updated to comply with Euro5+ emission standards, with revisions to the exhaust system. It continues to use a V-belt CVT setup aimed at smooth and convenient city riding.

The scooter retains Yamaha's Leaning Multi-Wheel technology, which features two front wheels that tilt together while cornering. This setup improves grip and enhances stability, especially on uneven or slippery roads. It rides on 14-inch tubeless tyres, with suspension duties handled by double telescopic forks at the front and a unit swingarm at the rear.

In terms of safety and control, the Tricity 300 is equipped with disc brakes on all three wheels, supported by cornering ABS, an IMU, a Unified Braking System, and a Brake Control system. A Standing Assist function is also included, helping the scooter stay upright when stationary.

The design has been revised to accommodate the new airbag system, resulting in a sharper and more compact front section. Styling updates include vertically stacked triple LED position lights, a split LED tail lamp, refreshed side panels, and new graphics. Colour options on offer are Milky White, Zen Green, and Power Grey.

Feature-wise, the scooter gets a dual-display layout comprising a 4.2-inch TFT screen with smartphone connectivity and a secondary 2.8-inch LCD for essential information. Garmin navigation comes as standard, while practical additions such as keyless ignition, a parking brake, and under-seat storage for two full-face helmets enhance everyday usability. The 2026 Tricity 300 is scheduled to go on sale in Europe in the second quarter of the year.
