2025 Yamaha R1 & R1M breaks cover
Yamaha has introduced the 2025 YZF-R1 and 2025 YZF-R1M globally with a subtle to moderate upgrades. The brand says that the new models feature improved aerodynamics, handling, and braking.
The 2025 R1 has joined the party of supersport models who have winglets. Both the R1 and R1M now come with carbon fibre winglets, resulting in additional downforce that helps with better front-end feel while cornering and braking. Apart from that, the design has been carried over from the previous models, however, there is new seat cover texture for ease of movement and grip. In terms of colours, the 2025 R1 comes in Team Yamaha Blue and Matte Black, while the R1M is available in Carbon Fibre.

For the 2025 R1, Yamaha has given it new KYB front upside down forks. Then, there are new radial-mounted Brembo Styalema Monobloc callipers paired with a new Brembo master cylinder. On the other hand, the 2025 R1M retains its mechanicals as before. What is unchanged for the 2025 models is the 998cc, inline four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that made its debut in 2015. This mill generates 200PS at 13,500rpm and 113.3Nm of torque at 11,500, which is the same as before.
Yamaha is also expected to bring the R1M for the Indian market and will likely be via the CBU route. Its competitors already sell their litre-class supersport in the country, such as the Ducati Panigale V4 and BMW S1000RR.
