2023 Porsche Cayenne cockpit previewed ahead of 18 April debut
German sports car marque Porsche has set the stage to reveal the updated 2023 Cayenne at Shanghai Auto Show on 18 April, 2023. Ahead of the world premiere, the firm has shown off its revamped and modern cockpit, bringing in multiple screens, new tech, and a "more intensive driver experience".
To begin with, Porsche has completely overhauled the cockpit of the upcoming new Cayenne. The dashboard now features three widescreen displays: a 12.6-inch curved driver display reminiscent of the one in the Taycan, a 12.3-inch central information hub, which is the heart of Porsche Communication Management (PCM), and for the first time, the Cayenne also gets an optional 10.9-inch passenger touchscreen that aims to take the strain off the driver. This display cannot be seen from the driver's seat as it supports video streaming, which can be used without distracting the driver.
Furthermore, the cockpit comes equipped with a new multifunctional steering wheel, which draws inspiration from the iconic 911. It gets a drive mode selector and a toggle switch to control the instrument panel. While most automakers are integrating air conditioning controls in the touchscreen infotainment system, Porsche has created a separate black glass panel comprising mechanical switches and touch capacitive buttons with haptic feedback. Apart from that, Porsche has ditched the traditional gear stick and has given the Cayenne a toggle-type gear selector. On top of that, Porsche offers four fast-charging USB Type-C ports in the front and rear. Interestingly, to pair a smartphone with the touchscreen infotainment system, users only have to scan a QR code in the PCM. Meanwhile, the new Cayenne will also feature a redesigned exterior and a raft of mechanical changes under the skin.
