2022 Toyota Glanza launched in India, prices start from Rs 6.39 lakh
Toyota India has launched the second iteration of the Toyota Glanza in the country. Introductory prices for the hatchback start from Rs 6.39 lakh for the base E trim. This goes up to Rs 9.69 lakh for the top V AMT variant. As before, the Glanza is closely related to the new Maruti Suzuki Baleno that debuted last month, although there is greater visual differentiation this time around. Deliveries begin from next week.
2022 Toyota Glanza exteriors, dimensions
The 2022 Toyota Glanza gets a different, more aggressively styled, front fascia from the new Baleno. The styling is influenced by the latest of Toyota's hatch offerings globally. This is seen with the winged front grille aperture and the chrome band above it. The bumper and air dam are more extroverted than the Baleno with the fanged design to the front lip, the large air dam and the chrome highlighted fog lamp surrounds. While the headlamps are similar in profile to the Baleno, there is different detailing and a new LED light signature.
There is no change to the sheet metal over the Baleno but there is a different design for the 16-inch alloy wheels. The rear remains largely identical to the new Baleno with the same C-shaped tail lamps and bumper.
2022 Toyota Glanza interior, features
The 2022 Toyota Glanza gets the new 9.0-inch Smartplay Pro touchscreen infotainment along with the new dash layout and materials, although the grey and blue theme from the Baleno has been replaced with a grey and beige colour combination. The standard climate control, as well as the head-up display from the Baleno, are carried over here, as well as cruise control and auto-dimming mirrors. A new suite of connected-car features have been added that comes from Toyota. Also seen here are safety features like the six airbags and 360-degree cameras.
2022 Toyota Glanza engine, specifications, mileage
The 2022 Glanza will get the same 1.2-litre DualJet petrol motor as in the new Baleno, which puts out 90PS and 113 Nm. This pairs with a five-speed manual and AMT. The fuel efficiency figure also remains very similar to the Baleno, at 22.9 kmpl for the AMT.
2022 Toyota Glanza price, rivals
As expected, the 2022 Toyota Glanza is priced similarly to the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, with the Toyota coming at a Rs 4,000 to Rs 20,000 premium. The Toyota gets the same three year/unlimited km warranty as the Baleno but this can be extended to a segment-leading five-year/2.2 lakh km. The Glanza will compete with the likes of the Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz, Tata Altroz and Maruti Suzuki Baleno.
