2021 Maruti Suzuki Celerio: Variants, prices and mileage explained
Maruti Suzuki has launched the second generation of the Maruti Suzuki Celrio in India. This hatchback has been one of the core products in the Maruti Suzuki line-up, having sold over 5.9 units since it was first unveiled in 2014. This success has let Maruti Suzuki garner over 70 per cent market share in the Celerio's mid-hatch segment.
2021 Maruti Suzuki Celerio engine, specifications, mileage
The Maruti Suzuki Celerio debuts the new K10C Dual Jet 1.0 litre petrol motor. This motor makes 69PS and 89 Nm and can be had with either a five-speed manual or a five-speed AMT. Improvements have been made via using dual injectors, improving exhaust gas regulation, using a higher compression ratio and increasing thermal efficiency as a result. An idle start-stop system has also been added with this change.
This new engine and the shift to the fifth generation Heartect architecture has also improved fuel efficiency. The mid-spec VXI AMT is the most fuel-efficient petrol car in India with its ARAI-rated 26.68 kmpl number. The ZXI Plus and ZXI Plus AMT variants return 26 kmpl while this drop to 25.97 kmpl for the ZXI+ manual and further to 25.24 kmpl for the LXI, VXI and ZXI manuals.
The move to the new architecture has also made the 2021 Maruti Suzuki Celrio larger. The length remains unchanged at 3,695mm but width has grown by 55mm to 1,655mm and height has dropped by 5mm to 1,555mm. The wheelbase has increased by 10mm to 2,435mm. There is more interior space on offer now with 95mm of added legroom, 60mm of additional front shoulder room which reduces to a 20mm increase in the rear. Boot space has grown by 40 per cent to 313 litres.
