In the world of adventure motorcycles, there aren't many motorcycles that can compare to the capabilities and go-anywhere attitude of the BMW R 1250 GS. Both the Standard BMW R 1250 GS and the BMW R 1250 GS Adventure models have been fan favourites and best-sellers across Europe when it comes to tackling the elements and tricky terrain. The big bikes in BMWs R line have done fairly well in India too, and after rolling out updates to its 2021 R 1250 GS and R 1250 GS Adventure bikes in global markets last year, as of July 8, 2021, BMW Motorrad has launched both 2021 R 1250 GS and R 1250 GS Adventure models in India at Rs 20.45 lakh and Rs 22.40 lakh respectively. Also, there are special 40th Anniversary Editions of the R line motorcycles that are available, although the pricing of these limited-edition bikes are yet to be announced.

Updates and Features:

As far as looks and underpinnings are concerned, BMW Motorrad hasn't tinkered around with the 2021 R 1250 GS and 2021 R 1250 GS Adventure models much, instead BMW Motorrad has given the bikes subtle electronic upgrades that are meant to make the models more user-friendly when ridden day-to-day. The upgrades in concern come in the form of new Eco riding mode - which dials down sharp throttle responses to maintain better fuel efficiency - Hill Start Control Pro, ABS Pro mode, and Dynamic Engine Brake Control. The 2021 R 1250 GS and 2021 R 1250 GS Adventure also gets the optional swiveling headlights that can bend up to 30-degrees, serving as self-adjusting cornering lights in low-light conditions.

The 2021 BMW R 1250 GS Style Rallye

The underpinnings of the 2021 BMW R 1250 GS range remain fairly unchanged from before, so you get an updated 1,254cc boxer engine which continues to operate with BMW's new ShiftCam variable valve timing. The engine produces 137.8PS @ 7,750rpm and 143Nm @ 6,250rpm and promises cleaner emissions and improved fuel economy. In addition to the base-spec white or black options, BMW is offering BMW R 1250 GS and new BMW R 1250 GS Adventure in two additional colour schemes: an ostentatious Style Rallye variant or a more sober Style Triple Black variant. The 40th Anniversary Editions feature a yellow/black paint scheme, along with a yellow tinted visor, yellow seat, engine guard, and golden spoke wheels.

Just as before, the features that differentiate the two models are the Adventure's additional suspension travel, larger tank, taller seat and more robust crash protection.
