2020 Hyundai Creta SUV achieves 55,000 bookings, diesel version remains most popular

The second-generation Hyundai Creta has now garnered over 55,000 bookings. In fact, it has been the most popular SUV in the country for two consecutive months, May and June. The Creta has also bucked the recent trend of customers shifting to petrol-powered vehicles with 60 per cent bookings coming from the diesel versions. On Hyundai's 'Click To Buy' online sales portal, 76 per cent of the bookings and 30 per cent of the enquires have been for this SUV.

The Creta gets three engine options, which it shares with the similar Kia Seltos. These are a 1.5-litre petrol with 115PS/144Nm, a 1.5-litre diesel motor with 115PS/250Nm and a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol with 140PS and 242Nm. There are three automatic options, aside from a 6-speed manual. There will be a CVT, a 6-speed auto and a 7-speed DCT. The CVT is paired to the N/A petrol, the diesel is available with the torque converter while the turbo-petrol can be had with the DCT. There is no manual turbo option as in the Kia.

The Creta can be had in numerous variants, which you can read about here. Prices for the Creta start at Rs 9.99 lakh and go up to Rs 17.20 lakh.

Over 20,000 customers have already taken delivery of the new Hyundai Creta. The SUV launched in India on March 17, just before the lockdown due to COVID-19, which makes these numbers all the more impressive. The Creta competes with the Seltos, Tata Harrier and MG Hector. More upmarket competitors are the Jeep Compass, Skoda Karoq and Volkswagen T-Roc.
