2020 Hyundai Creta remains India's best-selling SUV in June

The Hyundai Creta has continued its strong sales performance into the month of June 2020. Hyundai India sold 7,207 units of the new Creta the past month. This comes after the Creta sold 11,000 units and received 15,000 bookings in May 2020.

This strong performance from the Creta, along with the 4,129 units of the Venue that were sold, has made Hyundai the largest maker of SUVs in India. The Korean firm has also taken the lead on compatriot Kia Motors India. The Seltos had been the best-selling SUV in the country in the months leading up to the launch of the Creta. The Kia is still seeing very good numbers, marginally losing out to the Hyundai with 7,114 units. The Seltos and Creta are very similar mechanically, differentiated by styling and certain feature offerings.

The Creta gets three engine options, which it shares with the similar Kia Seltos. These are a 1.5-litre petrol with 115PS/144Nm, a 1.5-litre diesel motor with 115PS/250Nm and a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol with 140PS and 242Nm. There are three automatic options, aside from a 6-speed manual. There will be a CVT, a 6-speed auto and a 7-speed DCT. The CVT is paired to the N/A petrol, the diesel is available with the torque converter while the turbo-petrol can be had with the DCT. There is no manual turbo option as in the Kia.
