2020 BMW M4 leaked ahead of debut
With the BMW 4-Series having just debuted, BMW is set to showcase the range-topping BMW M4 later this year. But a spy phot has emerged which shows the upcoming sports car completely undisguised.
From the image, it is seen that the controversial full-face BMW kidney-grille carries over here as well, although with sharper gloss-black detailing. The front bumper is unique too, with an edgier design, and the sharp L-shaped inserts. As with the earlier M4, this car seems to sit on a wider track, with flared out wheel arches, a body kit and larger wheels.
The interiors aren't seen but we expect M-specific interior trim, like a new steering wheel, instrument cluster, sportier seats and centre console. The M4 is expected to be powered by the 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder m0tor from the X3 M. This is the most powerful six-cylinder engine ever seen on an M car, making 480PS and 600 Nm. This grows to 510PS in Competition spec.
A full range of M-specific electronics are set to be available. Other than this body strengthening elements and sophisticated chassis components like a new M-specific suspension package with electronically controlled dampers are expected. There should also be M-specific steering and brakes. All these bits will be adjustable and bespoke set-ups can be configured by the two now-signature M buttons on the steering wheel.
