Hero MotoCorp has launched the larger-engined Maestro Edge 125 in India, with prices starting from Rs 58,500 and going up to Rs 62,700. The headline with the 2019 Maestro Edge 125 is the addition of fuel-injection to the 125cc engine borrowed from the Destini, making this the first fuel-injected scooter in the country, and the first to be BS6-compliant. Other notable updates include the addition of a disc brake at the front, again the first Hero scooter to get one. The Maestro Edge 125 will also be available in carburetted-form with Hero's i3S start-stop system, and the 125 models will be sold alongside the regular Maestro Edge 110. Bookings for the new Maestro Edge 125 will begin on 16 May 2019.

Maestro Edge 125 i3S carburettor (drum brakes) - Rs 58,500

Maestro Edge 125 i3S carburettor (disc brakes) - Rs 60,000

Maestro Edge 125 Fuel Injection - Rs 62,700

All prices are ex-showroom Delhi

The fuel injected engine produces 9.2PS at 7,000rpm and 10.2Nm of torque at 5,000rpm, showing a modest increase of peak power over the carburetted variant. The carburetted Maestro 125, on the other hand, produces 8.8PS at 6,750rpm and 10.2Nm of torque at 5,000rpm. For reference, the Maestro Edge 110 produces 8.1PS at 7,500rpm and 8.7Nm torque at 5,500rpm. The scooter gets telescopic suspension at the front and a monoshock at the rear, wheel sizes remaining 12-inch at the front and 10-inch at the rear. The disc brake variant gets a 190mm rotor, while the drum brake variant gets 130mm drum brakes on both ends.

In terms of features, the external filler cap, single underseat USB charging point, multi-function key, digi-analogue dash all carry forward from the previous model. Unique to the Maestro Edge 125 FI will be the dual-tone colour schemes, available in either a panther black/sporty red, or a pearl white/brown combo. The shield-shaped LED daytime running light on the front apron will also be unique to the FI model. The carburetted Maestro Edge 125 will be available in a full matte paint scheme only, with matte blue, red, brown and grey being the choices.

The new Hero Motocorp Maestro Edge 125 rivals the TVS Ntorq 125, Honda Activa 125 and the Suzuki Access 125.
