2019 Ducati Multistrada 1260 Enduro launched in India at Rs 19.99 lakh ex-showroom
The 2019 Ducati Multistrada 1260 Enduro has just been launched in the country, priced at Rs 19.99 lakh ex-showroom, pan India. This is the updated enduro version of Ducati's full-sized adventure touring motorcycle and boasts improved handling on road and off it too thanks to updated electronics as also a host of mechanical tweaks as compared to the older motorcycle. Most importantly, as the 1260 in the name reflects, the new Enduro is powered by Ducati's 1,262cc Testastretta DVT, 90 degree V-twin engine producing a formidable 158PS and 128Nm and is thus in the exact same state of tune as the more road-biased Ducati Multistrada 1260 and 1260 S.

An important highlight about the motor says Ducati is that 85 percent of the torque produced by the engine, which amounts to over 100Nm, is available between 4,000rpm to 6,000rpm, making for an extremely strong mid-range punch. The engine is mated to the same six-speed gearbox as before, which also benefits from the addition of a bi-directional quickshifter now. Rider aids on the Multistrada 1260 Enduro have been updated as well, with Ducati adding a six-axis IMU as well. Riding modes are the same before and include Sport, Touring, Urban and Enduro but each mode allows further customisation now. Like before, the 1260 Enduro continues to be equipped with Ducati's Vehicle Hold Control system that will apply the brakes for you on inclines for up to 9 seconds when you apply additional pressure on either brake lever.

The 1260 Enduro has also been equipped with the updated version of the 5 inch TFT display for the instrument cluster, also seen on the Multistrada 1260 S. Unlike before, the screen now integrates graphic displays for showing the effects of some of the important changes to the rider aids. For instance, changing wheelie control or traction control levels now display the effect it will have on the motorcycle along with a bar at the bottom to tell you whether you are moving towards more dynamic performance or safety. Another distinct highlight is that the bike's semi-active electronic suspension can now be adjusted for various load conditions via a dedicated switch on the left side of the handlebar.

Mechanical changes include lighter wheels, a redesigned swingarm that's also lighter than before and a lighter oil sump. The exhaust has been redesigned as well and looks sleeker and more appealing now. Ducati has also revised the bike's trail and recalibrated the suspension setup in a bid to improve the bike's handling on tarmac to offer a better balance between handling on the road and off it. The seating position has been revised too thanks to Ducati dropping seat height by 10mm and handlebar height by 30mm to make the bike more accessible for shorter riders. The Multistrada 1260 Enduro takes on the likes of the Triumph Tiger 1200 and BMW R 1250 GS Adventure in India.
