2016 Skoda Superb launched in India at Rs 22.68 lakh

Skoda has launched the all-new Superb in India at Rs 22.68 lakh, ex-Mumbai. The new Skoda Superb is available in Style and L&K trims.

The new Superb is the second Skoda in India to be built on the highly versatile MQB platform, after the Octavia. It has an athletic design language, inspired from the new Octavia. Bi-Xenon headlamps with DRL elements are standard across the range along with adaptive light and levelling. There are retractable headlamp washers as well as fog lamps with cornering function.

The interiors are also swathed in luxury with leather upholstery as standard while the L&K gets perforated leather seats. While Dark Brushed decor is the theme inside for the Style trim, the L&K gets Piano Black. There is a 6.5-inch touchscreen with eight speakers and MirrorLink infotainment linked with it. 3-zone climate control is available on the L&K while dual zone with the Style. Other additional features that the L&K gets is Virtual Boot Lid release, electric boot operation, Boss button, Drive Mode Select and a multi information display.

There are two engine options available for the new Skoda Superb and three transmission options. The 1.8TSI petrol motor has been borrowed from the Octavia and it now makes 180PS/320Nm (250Nm with the automatic 7-speed DSG transmission). The diesel meanwhile also has been uprated now to produce 177PS/350Nm from its 2.0-litre heart. This motor is mated to a 6-speed DSG. With the manual transmission, the petrol Skoda Superb is claimed to deliver 14.12kmpl with the DSG increasing it by 0.5kmpl. The diesel Superb, meanwhile, is claimed to run 18.19km on a single litre.

Disc brakes on all four wheel handle braking duties. Other safety features include Hill Hold Control, ABS, EBD, Mechanical Brake Assistant, Multi Collision Brake, ASR, TCS, ESC and many more. There are also eight airbags as part of the standard equipment.
