Even though the Mazda CX-5 had an impressive exterior design, the cabin always attracted criticism especially when compared to the CX-3 and CX-9 SUVs. The cabin features a completely revamped cockpit-like design. The central console has been positioned higher and so is the automatic level which sits 50mm higher. Mazda offers soft-touch materials on the trim with silver highlights on the knobs and buttons. The new CX-5 comes equipped with a central infotainment screen with a better resolution. It will also be available with a new colour head-up display, like the one in the Mazda3.

Mazda has not still disclosed the performance and efficiency numbers of the new engine options. Mazda also states that the suspensions have been tweaked for a softer ride set-up. The premium versions of the CX-5 will come equipped with Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) that automatically controls vehicle speed with respect to the speed and distance to the car ahead of it. Also, the 2017 Mazda CX-5 comes with G-Vector control that adjusts the torque delivery of the motor while cornering to reduce body roll.

Deliveries will start in February 2017 in Japan followed by the same at the international markets. The 2017 Mazda CX-5 will rival the likes of the Honda CR-V, Audi Q3 and BMW X1.
