2015 MMSC FMSCI INMRC Round 3: Double win for Sarath Kumar in the Honda One-Make Championship races

The third round of the MMSC FMSCI Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship concluded this weekend at the MMRT track in Chennai. In the first race of the Group B (165cc) Open class, Jagan Kumar of TVS Racing finished first ahead of teammate Harry Sylvester and Deepak Ravi Kumar of Moto-Rev Yamaha Racing. He faced no competition from Rajini Krishnan who retired just after the first lap due to mechanical problems. In a turn of events the next day, Rajini took first on the podium after Jagan faced mechanical problems and finished eighth. Krishnan was followed closely by Sylvester and KY Ahamed who took second and third respectively.

In the Honda One-Make Championship, Sarath Kumar took first place in both the CBR250 class races held in this round. In the first race, his closest competition Sumit Lucas Toppo crashed in the final lap making room for Dinesh Kumar and Akash P Dingare (ProLap Racing) to finish second and third. Also enjoying double wins this round were Mathana Kumar of Ten10 Racing in the Group C (165cc) Open class and Vishwadev Muraleedharan of Sparks Racing in the Group D (165cc) Open class.

In the Yamaha One-Make Championship, Kannan K won both races in the R15 Novice category. Mithun Kumar won the first race of the R15 Open class while Shyam Shankar took first place on the second day.

Ananthraj Raj from Chennai too dominated both races in the Suzuki Gixxer Cup Open class this round. Muraleedharan won the first race of the Novice category this round but was pushed to second by Amarnath Menon in the second race. In the TVS RTR 160 Open and Novice classes, KY Ahmed and Akhand Pratap Singh took first place in both races this round.

CHENNAI: Seasoned campaigner Rajini Krishnan of Moto-Rev Yamaha Racing team came up with a superb ride to win the showpiece Group B (165cc) Open class race in the third round of the MMSC FMSCI Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship which concluded at the MMRT track here on Sunday. After failing to finish in the first race run on Saturday, 34-year old Rajini Krishnan cut his way through the field from fourth position to pull off a fine win after early leader Jagan Kumar (TVS Racing) suffered problems with his bike and finished eighth. It was a repeat of the second race of the previous round when Jagan Kumar, after winning the first outing, dropped off with a puncture while Rajini Krishnan won. The TVS Racing pair of Harry Sylvester who was very much in the frame until the finish, and KY Ahamed finished second and third, respectively, behind Rajini Krishnan. "I started fourth and moved up the field. I caught up with Jagan, but something went wrong with his bike and moved to the front. I am happy that I won," said Rajini Krishnan. Also enjoying a profitable weekend was Mathana Kumar of Ten10 Racing who achieved a double in the Group C (165cc) Open category as also Vishwadev Muraleedharan in Group D (165cc) Open and international rider Sarath Kumar in the Honda CBR 250 category. Sarath Kumar, with a wealth of experience, was class apart as he won both the CBR 250 races with his closest rival Sumit Lucas Toppo unable to mount a serious challenge. Another impressive ride came from Shyam Shankar who won a tight race in the Yamaha R15 Open category while Kannan K completed a double in the Novice class with back-to-back wins.
