2015 Hyundai Elite i20 launched at Rs 4.89 lakh
Hyundai launches the Elite i20 at Rs 4.89 lakh ex-Delhi, with the top spec diesel variant priced at Rs 7.67 lakh. The new car now comes in four variants - Era, Magna, Sportz and Asta. Each trim comes with a 1.2-litre Kappa Petrol with Dual VTVT delivering 83PS or a 1.4-litre U2 CRDi diesel engine delivering 90PS.
On the outside, the Elite i20 carries forward the Fluidic Design philosophy but now in a 2.0 avatar. A single frame 3-D hexagonal grille accents the facade along with wide, trapezoidal fog lamps. Major features on the side include the two-tone 16-inch diamond cut alloys and chrome-accented door handles. The rear has also been radically changed with wraparound lights. Strangely though, the rear wash wipe is only available on the top spec Asta model. The auto folding ORVM is another feature that has been added in the interest of streamlining the design.
Inside the cabin, the interiors are claimed to be "driver oriented" and there is a multifunction steering wheel with Bluetooth and audio control and a 2 DIN mp3 audio integrated with USB and Aux-in available with internal memory worth 1GB. Hyundai has supplied rear AC vents for the passengers at the back and Fully Automatic Temperature Control completes the comfort package in the car. All Sportz and Asta models get driver airbags and ABS. Asta also gets passenger airbags.
In order to tune it for the Indian roads, Hyundai has also equipped the i20 with Macpherson struts and torsion beam. The fuel efficiency for the petrol and diesel are claimed at 18.6 and 22.54kmpl respectively.
