2014 Lexus IS gets sporty kit and performance bits from TRD
Toyota's performance wing, Toyota Racing Development (TRD) has turned their attention to the already striking Lexus IS and have now made it even more desirable. So now, the Lexus IS gets sporty bits like the air deflector near the front and rear bumper, 19-inch 16-spoke forged aluminium alloy wheels, side skirts, quad tail pipes and a rear bumper adorned with a diffuser. As far as performance goes, TRD has added new sway bars, shock absorbers, dampers, bracing and springs. The sports suspension, TRD says, is tuned for both performance and a comfortable ride. All these upgrades are different from the ones that Lexus offers on its own, called the F-Sport.
As of now, there is no word on whether the engine bits have upgraded or if they are stock, however gauging from TRD's past work, the engine will most probably be untouched. TRD's Japanese website also doesn't have any information on the same.
While these parts as of now are only limited to the Japanese market, it is expected that TRD will make this available to the rest of the world very soon. Prices for the body kit from TRD start at Rs 2.35 lakh while the performance kits are for Rs 1.5lakh. The four wheels in the meanwhile are priced at an eye-popping Rs 2.83 lakh. All the prices mentioned have been calculated based on today's exchange rates.
