There are just three days to go for the covers to come off the new Toyota Corolla at one of the largest car markets in the world: California, USA. The Japanese automobile giant has been grabbing attention by letting out teasers every once in a while.

The first teaser had come out last month. What's visible are the car's new LED headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels and Touch Screen Audio system. The car's detailing, designing and styling draws immensely from Toyota's Furia concept which was unveiled at the Detroit auto show in January.

Details are not yet official but the sedan will most likely be powered by a 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol engine coupled with a six-speed manual and CVT transmissions. There will also be a 1.4 litre diesel engine option. Toyota is working very hard to improve overall driveability.

Complementing the sporty exterior will be the interior, expected to be feature-laden to stand among its competitors. A central touch console, climate control and aluminium highlights are all expected. Sporty dials with a trip computer, info system, satellite navigation and leather upholstery will add further value to the light beige or two-tone interiors. The new Corolla will definitely be larger and roomier than the current one. Technology and safety features will be top-notch to face the smash-mouth competition in its segment.

While the car will be on sale in the United States in the coming few months, it will take a while for Toyota's Indian arm, Toyota Kirloskar Motors, to launch the new Corolla. Though the Altis is one of the highest selling C+ segment sedans in India, Toyota's plans of going easy on its Indian operations could defer the launch of the 2014 Corolla in India.
