2014 BMW 4 Series convertible to debut at Los Angeles Show 2013
BMW had recently brought out its 2014 4 Series and now the company is preparing a convertible version for the upcoming Los Angeles Show. The 4 Series in fact is a replacement of the 3 Series convertible. The 4 Series convertible will have two variants- 428i and 435i. A 243PS four cylinder 2.0-litre turbocharged unit powers the 428i convertible and BMW claims that the car will go from nought to 100 in just 6.4 seconds. The more powerful 305PS twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre engine in the 435i does the same distance in 5.7 seconds. Both the cars come mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The hardtop for the 4 convertible uses a three-piece configuration and takes around 20 seconds to go from covered to topless and can be done at speeds upto 17kmph. If you were wondering about the colder climates, then BMW has you covered with the neck warmers on the front seats. Speaking of which, the interiors remain the same as the 4 Series coupe and there are no changes here.
The 4 Series convertible, after its LA debut will hit the showrooms in the first half of 2014.
