XUV700 Vs Hyundai Alcazar Vs Tata Safari Vs MG Hector Plus Diesel Engines

The XVU700 comes with 2 litre turbo-charged engine that will make 184PS and 420 Nm/450 Nm depending on the transmission of your choice. The Hyundai Alcazar will come powered by the same 1.5-litre diesel motor as seen in the Creta. It makes the same 115PS and 250 Nm here which puts it at a significant deficit to the Stellantis-sourced 2.0-litre unit seen in both the Tata Safari and the MG Hector Plus. This motor puts out 172PS and 350Nm in both SUVs. The Hector Plus is the only one to not come with a diesel-automatic variant. Incidentally, both the Safari and the Alcazar share versions of the same six-speed torque converter. All three get a six-speed manual option as well.

XUV700 Vs Hyundai Alcazar Vs Tata Safari Vs MG Hector Plus Petrol Engines

The XUV700 will feature a 2 litre turbo petrol which will produce a colossal 200PS and 380 Nm of torque, making it the most powerful in the segment by a good margin. The Tata Safari doesn't come with a petrol engine option as of now, although rumours suggest as 1.5-litre turbo is in the works. The MG Hector Plus is already offered with a 1.5-litre turbo petrol that puts out 143PS and 250Nm. MG Motor India also offers a mild-hybrid version of this engine. Bucking the current trend, the Hyundai Alcazar is set to be offered with a new 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol motor. This is a development of the engine found in the Elantra and puts out 169PS and 191 Nm.
As for gearboxes, there is a wide selection on offer here. The Hyundai Alcazar will come with a six-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter while the MG Hector Plus can be had with a six-speed manual, a seven-speed DCT or a newly added CVT.
