Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo breaks cover at MWC Barcelona 2026

Xiaomi has unveiled its Vision Gran Turismo (VGT) concept at Mobile World Congress 2026, for the Gran Turismo 7 racing simulator. The futuristic electric hypercar will not be built for the road, but players will be able to drive it in the game once it becomes available.

- Features carbon-ceramic brakes, centre-lock wheels and magnetic wheel covers (called Accretion Rims) that stay stationary while the wheel rotates to reduce drag.
- The design achieves a drag coefficient of 0.29 and generates -1.2 of downforce, aided by a large rear diffuser and air-venting taillights.

With the Vision Gran Turismo project, Xiaomi joins a select group of manufacturers such as Porsche, Ferrari and Mercedes-Benz that have created exclusive concept cars for the Gran Turismo franchise. The VGT concept also builds on Xiaomi's recent automotive push that started with the reveal of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra performance sedan.

The two-door hypercar has been designed with a strong focus on aerodynamics. Xiaomi says the car is "sculpted by the wind", with several airflow channels and active aerodynamic elements aimed at improving efficiency and stability at high speeds. Its low ride height, teardrop-shaped cockpit and smooth body profile are meant to minimise drag, while the shark-fin style roofline helps manage airflow over the body.

The exterior styling also stands out with halo-style rear lights that double as aerodynamic outlets, giving the car a look reminiscent of futuristic sci-fi vehicles. The rear diffuser and enclosed wheel design further add to the hypercar's race-focused character. The rear also features the Active Wake Control System, a matrix of micro-perforations surrounding the taillight. Using real-time data on vehicle speed and angle, the system actively generates air to guide airflow, pushing turbulent air farther away from the rear of the vehicle.

The Accretion Rims is another noteworthy mention. A vortex-shaped wheel cover sits flush with the tyre surface. It has semi-transparent cover which enables viewers to see the turbine fins inside, which actively pulls air to cool the brakes during operation. There is a magnetic system beneath, when the car is in motion, the wheel cover remains perfectly still to reduce the aerodynamic drag caused by rotating wheel surfaces and also maintains a visually striking floating effect.

Inside, the Vision Gran Turismo features a highly experimental cabin called the "Sofa Racer" layout. The dashboard, seats and scissor doors are designed to form a single cocoon-like space for the driver. A butterfly-style steering wheel and a panoramic display interface dominate the cockpit, while the central console includes physical buttons, a rotary control knob and a throttle-style gear selector similar to what you might see in an aircraft.

Xiaomi has also integrated its Human × Car × Home ecosystem into the concept, allowing the system to personalise the driving experience through light and sound based on the driver's mood and preferences.

Although the Vision Gran Turismo will remain a virtual hypercar, it demonstrates Xiaomi's ambitions in the automotive space.
