Triumph Trident 660 launched at Rs 6.95 lakh - how does it compare to the Kawasaki Z650 and Honda CB650R?

Triumph Trident availability and pricing:
After opening bookings last month, Triumph has today launched its much-awaited entry-level model, the Triumph Trident, in the Indian market. Touted as the most economical Triumph on offer at the moment, the Trident is priced at Rs 6.95 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India). The Triumph Trident comes to India via the CKD route and is assembled locally.

The Trident uses a steel tubular frame and is suspended by Showa separate function forks at the front and preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear. Braking duties are carried out by two-piston and single-piston setups at the front and rear respectively. Triumph has gone with Michelin Pilot Road 5 tyres for the Trident, employing 120/70-17 at the front and 180/55-17 at the rear - the same sizes as a Triumph Daytona.

2021 Triumph Trident engine, electronics and features:
In fact, the engine for the newest roadster from the brit automaker is derived from Daytona's 675cc mill too. The Trident is powered by a 660cc triple-cylinder engine that is good for 81PS of power and 64Nm of torque. It is mated to a six-speed gearbox and comes with two riding modes - Road and Rain. Dual-channel ABS and traction control is standard and the bike can be optioned with a bi-directional quick-shifter. The motorcycle also features a fully digital instrumentation and pairs with the rider's phone for Bluetooth telephony and calling features.

2021 Triumph Trident rivals:
With its ex-showroom price of Rs 6.95 lakh, the Triumph Trident undercuts the recently launched Honda CB650R that is priced at Rs 8.67 lakh, but is a fair bit pricier than the parallel-twin engined Kawasaki Z650 which is priced at a little over Rs 6 lakh.
