Toyota previews the Urban SUV Concept for Europe

Toyota introduced the new Urban SUV Concept at a recent European press event in Brussels, a tiny electric SUV that the Japanese company expects will be production-ready next year. The new vehicle will be the most compact and accessible of a planned six-model dedicated BEV line-up, competing in the B-SUV class, which Toyota expects would be one of Europe's major BEV markets. This futuristic SUV, known as the Toyota Urban SUV concept, is the sister car of the Suzuki eVX SUV.

This Urban SUV Concept which is still unnamed will join the Toyota bZ4X SUV which is currently on sale. The remaining 4 EVs on the way include two crossovers, a bigger SUV, and the Sport Crossover Concept, which was unveiled at the same event. All five cars will be unveiled at some point next year, most likely in concept form first, with production versions following later.

The Urban SUV Concept has the same dimensions as the Maruti Suzuki eVX, measuring 4,300mm in length, 1,820mm in width, and 1,620mm in height. Because of the born-EV skateboard platform, both models are likely to have a 2,700mm wheelbase, which will help free up cabin space.

The Urban SUV Concept has a hammerhead design with a C-shaped light signature and matching light bar, which has been seen on modern automobiles such as the Prius. Additional lighting strips are installed vertically at the front bumper's borders, which has a row of vertical slats at its base.

Strong shoulders, sharp wheel arches, and flush door handles, the latter of which are located high up to the C-pillars for the rear doors, can be found along the sides. The rear bumper and tailgate change slightly, but the overall appearance is obviously identical to the evX.

Toyota has been tight-lipped on any specifics, but we do know that the production Urban SUV will be available with two batteries and either two or four-wheel drive.

Toyota claims it will provide additional information about the production Urban SUV Concept next year. Toyota Motor Europe's objective of entirely supplying zero-emission cars (ZEVs) by 2035 and attaining total carbon neutrality by 2040 will be aided by the EVs expected to be released by 2026.
