Tesla has announced an update to the Model Y, enhancing the electric SUV's driving range, while keeping the prices unchanged. The revision applies exclusively to the "top-spec Long Range" variant.

-The Model Y Long Range RWD now offers a WLTP-claimed range of 661km, upgraded from the earlier 622km.
-The prices remain unchanged at Rs 67.89 lakh(ex-showroom).

In terms of design, the Model Y continues with its crossover silhouette, aerodynamic contours, connected LED lighting, and 19-inch alloy wheels. The interior cabin retains a 15.3-inch central touchscreen that manages all functions. The key features include heated and ventilated power front seats, reclining rear seats, a 9-speaker premium audio system, an 8-inch rear touchscreen for passenger control and a Comprehensive ADAS suite with an integrated dashcam.

Tesla's optional "Full Self-Driving(FSD)" package remains available at an additional Rs 6 lakh, though it is currently inactive in India pending regulatory clearance. Mechanically, the Model Y continues with its "rear-wheel-drive configuration". At the same time, the global variants also feature dual-motor all-wheel-drive setups, with unchanged charging capabilities that support fast-charging.

In terms of mechanical and visual appeals, there are no changes, with the move ensuring pricing stability for Indian buyers and aligning the Model Y's specifications more closely with global standards.

With the increase in range, Tesla continues to rival with the likes of BYD Sealion 7, Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Mercedes-Benz EQA, to name a few.
