Tesla Launches the First Supercharger in India at Mumbai BKC

Tesla has taken a major step forward in expanding its presence in India with the official launch of its first Tesla Charging Station at One BKC, Mumbai, on Monday, 4th of August, 2025. This marks the beginning of an extensive rollout of Supercharger sites across the country.

The Mumbai charging station at BKC One features four V4 Supercharging stalls delivering ultra-fast DC charging at a peak rate of 250 kW, alongside four Destination Charging/ Wall Charging stalls offering AC charging at 11 kW. Tesla owners at BKC can now choose the charging option that best suits their needs, with Supercharging priced at INR 24 per kW and Destination Charging at INR 14 per kW. The other locations in Mumbai will include Lower Parel, Thane, and Navi Mumbai, and these will appear shortly as deliveries commence in the latter half of September, following the festive season. This station is the first of eight Supercharger sites announced for Mumbai, with plans underway to expand Tesla's charging infrastructure nationwide to support cross-country travel.

Tesla's Model Y can add up to 267 kilometres of range in just 15 minutes using the Superchargers, which is enough to cover five round-trips between Mumbai's International Airport and the Gateway of India. This fast, reliable charging experience is supported by an impressive uptime of 99.95%, ensuring Tesla drivers rarely face downtime. The Destination or wall chargers also give you 70 km of range with just one hour of charging, and to support the customer, Tesla is going to give the destination/wall charger complimentary with the car.

The Tesla app enhances convenience by allowing users to locate available chargers, monitor charging progress, receive notifications, and pay seamlessly through their smartphones. Additionally, the vehicle's navigation system optimizes routes and preconditions the battery for faster charging upon arrival.

With a starting price of INR 59, 89,000, Model Y registrations in Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, and Gurugram will be prioritized for delivery starting Q3 2025. The long-range variant, however, will take more time and is tentatively arriving in India by the end of the year, in late November to December.
