Tata Sierra scores 5-Stars in Bharat NCAP Crash Test Rating
Tata Sierra has secured a full 5-star rating in the Bharat NCAP crash tests. The SUV scored 31.14 out of 32 in Adult Occupant Protection and 44.73 out of 49 in Child Occupant Protection, placing it among the safest vehicles in its segment.
In the frontal offset crash test, the Sierra delivered a solid performance. Protection for the driver's head, neck, pelvis, thighs and feet was rated as 'good', while the chest and lower legs received an 'adequate' score. The co-driver fared even better, with most areas rated 'good', except for the right lower leg. Overall, the vehicle's structure remained stable during the impact.
The SUV also performed strongly in side impact scenarios. In both the side barrier and side pole tests, protection for key areas such as the head, chest, abdomen and pelvis was rated 'good' for front occupants.
Child occupant safety is another highlight. The SUV was tested using rear-facing child seats for 18-month-old and 3-year-old dummies. It scored 7.73 out of 8 for the younger child and a full 8 out of 8 for the older child in frontal impact tests. In side impact tests, both dummies received full marks. The Sierra achieved 23.73 out of 24 in dynamic testing and a full 12 points for child seat installation, resulting in a total score of 44.73.
On the equipment front, the Sierra comes with six airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, all-wheel disc brakes, rear parking sensors, and an electronic parking brake with auto hold. Higher variants are equipped with a 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS features, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and blind spot monitoring.
The SUV is offered with multiple engine options, including petrol, turbo-petrol and diesel, along with manual and automatic transmissions. Prices range from Rs 11.49 lakh to Rs 21.29 lakh (ex-showroom). It locks horns with the likes of the Renault Duster, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq, Hyundai Creta and Toyota Hyryder to name a few.
