Tata Motors reveals dealer list for Tata Tiago JTP, Tata Tigor JTP

Tata Motors launched the first two cars from its new performance brand JTP in India last week. These cars are being developed and manufactured by JT Special Vehicles, a 50:50 JV between Tata Motors and Jayem automotives. The Tata Tiago JTP is priced at Rs 6.39 lakh while the Tigor JTP will set you back by Rs 7.49 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Given how this is charting new territory for the brand, Tata Motors is launching these cars across its sale outlets in a phased manner. The company has released the first list of 28 dealerships across India that will cater to buyers of JTP cars. These dealers are spread across 15 cities in 11 states.

The southern part of the country will account for half of these dealerships, spread across Bengaluru, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Chennai, Coimbatore and Hyderabad. North India will have seven dealers in Delhi, Gurugram, Chandigarh and Lucknow. The Western part of the country will be catered to by six outlets in Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Pune. A single outlet in Kolkata will be the only way buyers from the eastern part of the country will be able to buy the JTP cars.

The biggest change on the JTP cars is the new 1.2-litre turbocharged Revotron petrol motor. Both cars get this unit which puts out 114PS and 150 Nm. Against the 85PS/114 Nm of the standard cars, the performance bump comes by way of new intakes and exhaust systems. Tata Motors also says they have worked on optimising the five-speed manual transmission. Given these cars sporty bend, the eco mode has been deleted and city and sport drive modes are available.

Other changes include a reworked suspension system for better ride and handling, a 4mm drop in ride height and bigger 15-inches. The standard Tiago and Tigor make do with 14-inch tyres.

The company has also made a host of styling changes to go with this. The cars get a hood vent, new gloss black detailing on the front grille, new front bumpers with a larger lower grille and a rear bumper with a subtle diffuser. There are twin-pipe exhausts and JTP badging on the grille, the new fender vents and the rear.

Both cars get an all-black interior with contrasting red accents, a new leather-wrapped steering wheel. The seat fabric is also new and gets red stitching, as does the gear shifter and steering wheel. There are also aluminium finish pedals.
