Skoda Kushaq facelift launched at Rs 10.69 lakh

Škoda Auto has launched the updated Kushaq facelift in India with prices ranging from Rs 10.69 lakh to Rs 18.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

The mid-cycle update for the midsize SUV introduces small design changes, more features and a new automatic gearbox option. Depending on the variant, prices have increased by as much as Rs 94,000 compared with the earlier model.

One of the key updates is the introduction of an 8-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox for the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 115 PS. This replaces the earlier 6-speed automatic and is paired with either the new automatic or a 6-speed manual transmission. Buyers looking for more performance can opt for the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 150 PS. This engine comes only with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

Skoda has also revised the variant lineup. The new Classic+ trim replaces the earlier Classic as the entry-level model and now offers an automatic gearbox option as well. It starts at Rs 10.69 lakh, while the automatic version costs Rs 12.69 lakh. Higher up the range, the more powerful 1.5-litre variants are priced at Rs 18.79 lakh for the Prestige and Rs 18.99 lakh for the Monte Carlo.

The facelift brings subtle design updates as well. The Kushaq now adopts Skoda's latest Modern Solid styling with slimmer LED headlights and a new light bar integrated into the grille. The bumper has also been reshaped and now features a more angular skid plate. At the rear, the SUV gets a full-width LED light bar with illuminated 'SKODA' lettering and sequential turn indicators. New 16-inch and 17-inch alloy wheel designs have also been introduced, along with three new colours: Cherry Red, Shimla Green and Steel Grey.

Inside, the cabin layout remains familiar but receives several upgrades. The Kushaq now features a 10.25-inch digital driver display and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with updated software. Dual-colour ambient lighting and a panoramic sunroof are also available, while lower variants get a single-pane sunroof.

The feature list includes ventilated front seats with six-way power adjustment, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, wireless charging and a six-speaker audio system. Skoda has also added a rear-seat massage function and integrated the Google Gemini AI assistant into the infotainment system for voice-based controls and real-time information.

Boot space has increased to 491 litres, although Skoda now measures capacity up to the roof rather than the parcel tray. Safety equipment includes six airbags, ESC, traction control, hill-hold assist, ISOFIX mounts and rain-sensing wipers. The 1.5-litre versions now get rear disc brakes, and the SUV continues with its 5-star safety rating from Global New Car Assessment Programme.

The updated Kushaq will continue to compete with rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun and Honda Elevate in the midsize SUV segment.
