Shell develops energy efficient concept carShell has unveiled a new concept car that promises greater energy efficiency and reduced emissions. Based on Gordon Murray's patented iStream platform, (T.25 city car introduced in 2010) this concept car by Shell features major technical alterations as well as a bespoke engine oil by Shell. These collectively result in a lower carbon dioxide emissions than a normal petrol powered city car (28 per cent) as well as a hybrid vehicle (32 per cent), The car also delivered a five per cent improvement in fuel efficiency, at 38kmpl, while driving at 70 kmph. DSK-Benelli has now opened a new showroom in Coimbatore in association with Super Agencies. The new showroom is already functional with the sales staff already accepting bookings, with deliveries of the motorcycles set to commence soon. The showroom is located at 14, Nehru Stadium in VOC Park and will display the entire DSK-Benelli product range. Apart from sales, the dealership also houses a service centre. The company claims that the showroom employs a well-trained and knowledgeable staff. The Benelli range in India includes the TNT 25, TNT 300, TNT600i, TNT 600 GT, TNT 899, TNT R and the Tornado Naked Tre. Read about it here.
Diesel cars tested by UK transport ministry found to exceed emission limitsÂ
The UK transport ministry has revealed that all 37 diesel cars across 20 brands tested by it on public roads have been found to exceed the laboratory limits for nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions. The cars tested included models from manufacturers like Volkswagen, Ford, General Motors and BMW. According to reports, 18 older cars were evaluated according to the Euro 5 standards for NOx emissions levels. In comparison, 19 new car models were evaluated according to the Euro 6 emission norms. During the tests conducted on UK roads, every vehicle was found to emit NOx more than the permissible limits. However, only the Volkswagen model was found to be equipped with an emissions cheating defeat device. Read about it here.
Bentley launch the new Bentayga in India at Rs 3.85 crore
Bentley has launched the new Bentayga SUV in India at Rs 3.85 crore (ex-Delhi). The uber luxurious SUV is the British marque's take on what an SUV should be. The Bentayga is based on the MLB platform that also underpins the Audi Q7 and the Porsche Cayenne. Tagged as the most powerful and the fastest SUV in the world, the Bentley Bentayga will primarily compete with the Land Rover Range Rover in India. The Bentley Bentayga is powered by a newly developed, twin-turbo, six-litre W12 engine. It produces supercar rivaling, 608PS at 5,000-6,000rpm and 900Nm at 1,350-4,500rpm. It's mated to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. Bentley claims a 0-100 time of 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 301kmph. Read about it here.
Mitsubishi apologises for submission of incorrect fuel data of small-cars
Mitsubishi Motor Corporation (MMC) has issued an apology for submission of incorrect fuel data to Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT). The cars in question are four mini-car models from the sub-660cc Kei series. These include the eK Wagon and eK Space made by MMC along with the Dayz and Dayz Roox, manufactured by MMC for Nissan. All of the affected models are manufactured at the company's Mizushima plant in Okayama, Japan. Read about it here.
