New Tata Punch EV spied testing again

Tata Motors has been testing the new Punch EV and its test mules have been spotted on multiple occasions. Similarly, the most recent test mule of the electric SUV has revealed several fresh details about its features and design.

Tata Punch EV: Exterior

As seen in the spy photos, the heavily camouflaged Punch EV features a resigned fascia â€" dissimilar than the ICE Punch â€" with what appears to be new headlamps, new daytime running lights, and a new bumper with vertical slats. It is also likely to come with a redesigned partly closed-off grille and a light bar running across its width. In addition, the headlights could be bi-directional LED units similar to the 2023 Nexon and Nexon EV facelifts. Tata may also give it reworked rear bumper and taillamps, along with a new set of alloy wheels.

One of the spy pictures has also given a sneak peek of the larger touchscreen infotainment system and auto-dimming IRVM. While the details about its dashboard layout are not available at the moment, the dashboard and centre console could get a revamp. The EV is also likely to get a new steering wheel, fully digital instrument cluster, wireless charging pad, USB Type-C fast charging ports, telematics, air purifier, ventilated seats, and a new gear selector.

Tata Punch EV: Range, battery pack, and power outputs

The upcoming Punch EV may get a second-gen electric motor from the Nexon EV facelift and a battery pack with a capacity of around 25-35kWh. With this, it may offer a range between 350-375km. The electric SUV is also expected to support 7.2kW AC charging and faster DC charging than the on-sale Tiago EV and Tigor EV. Additionally, it would be surprising if Tata equips the new Punch EV with Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) or Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability like the Nexon EV facelift.

Tata Punch EV: Pricing and rivals

While the petrol and CNG-powered Punch is priced between Rs 6 lakh and 10.10 lakh (both ex-showroom), the prices of the electric version are projected to start from Rs 8.50-9 lakh and go up 13-13.50 lakh. Upon launch, it will compete against the Citroen eC3 and MG Comet EV.
