New Mahindra Thar 4x2 India launch on 9 January
Mahindra is all set to launch an affordable version of its Thar, the Thar 4x2, in India on 9 January, 2023. With the smaller displacement diesel unit and RWD, the prices of the new entry-level variant of the SUV could start at Rs 11 lakh. Notably, the specifications, colour options, and features of the Thar 4x2 have already been leaked on the internet.
Mahindra Thar 4x2: Engine
Along with a 2WD drivetrain, a smaller displacement diesel engine will be the highlight of the Thar 4x2. According to the leaked specifications, this entry-level version of the SUV will continue to be powered by the same 2.0-litre mStallion petrol engine with 152PS/300Nm (320Nm with AT), while there will be a 1.5-litre diesel unit that produces 118PS and 300Nm of torque. The petrol unit will be paired with manual and automatic transmissions, whereas the diesel motor will be only mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.
Mahindra Thar 4x2: Exterior and Interior
In addition to the four existing paint options, namely Aqua Marine, Napoli Black, Red Rage, and Galaxy Grey, the upcoming Thar 4x2 will reportedly be offered in two new colours: Blazing Bronze and Everest White. On the other hand, its interior design may remain unchanged and identical to the on-sale version.
Mahindra Thar 4x2: Features
It is believed that the Thar 4x2 diesel will come equipped with a few new features that are unavailable in the entry-level petrol variants. It could be available with an electronic stability program (ESP), hill hold control, and hill descent control.
