New Hyundai Verna production commences; to feature Level 2 autonomy

Hyundai has officially announced that the production of the all-new Verna has commenced in India. Notably, the upcoming Verna will get Hyundai Sense Level 2 autonomy and 30 safety features as standard. Overall, it will come with a total of 65 safety features. The South Korean carmaker will launch the new generation Verna in India on 21 March, 2023.

The highlight of the new Verna will be the Hyundai Sense - a suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), which will comprise forward collision warning, emergency braking (car, pedestrian, cycle, and junction turning), cruise control with stop and go, high beam assist, blind-spot collision warning, blind-spot avoidance assist, lane departure warning with lane keep assist, lane following assist, driver attention warning, safe exit alert, leading vehicle departure alert, and rear cross-traffic alert with rear cross-traffic avoidance assist.

While Hyundai has not revealed the list of 30 standard safety features, it has given details about some features that will be available with the upcoming Verna. The sedan will sport six airbags, a three-point seat belt and reminder, automatic headlamps with headlamp escort function, keyless entry, rear parking sensors, lane change indicator, rear defogger, ABS, EBD, speed and impact sensing auto door lock, emergency stop signal, ISOFIX child seat mounts, burglar alarm, and rear defogger.

Apart from the safety equipment, Hyundai will bestow the upcoming sedan with heated and ventilated front seats, two large displays consisting of a digital instrument cluster and a touchscreen infotainment system, LED headlamps, all-wheel disc brakes, ESP, VSM, HAC, electric parking brake, auto-dimming inside rearview mirror, cornering lamps, front parking sensors, and TPMS among others.

Meanwhile, upon launch, the all-new Hyundai Verna will compete against the 2023 Honda City, Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Slavia, and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
