The Mini Cooper 1965 Victory Edition has been introduced to the Indian market and pre-launch bookings are now open.
- Bookings now open for the Mini Cooper S Victory Edition
- Powered by 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine pushing 204 PS and 300 Nm
The new edition pays tribute to the race-winning car driven by Timo Mäkinen and co-driver Paul Easter in 1965. In India, the special version will be based on the combustion-powered Cooper S and will be offered with the JCW Pack.
Visually, the car stands out with an exclusive Chili Red paint finish. A contrasting white stripe runs across the bonnet, roof and rear hatch. The number '52' appears on the doors and rear pillars in white, styled with a racetrack-inspired graphic. This number references the original Mini that secured the 1965 rally win.
Depending on the market, buyers will get 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels, a twin-bubble rear spoiler and a centrally positioned exhaust integrated into the rear diffuser. A red '1965 Victory Edition' badge is placed below the rear windscreen within the white stripe. With the JCW Pack, the hatchback also receives 'John Cooper Works' badging on the grille and tailgate, blacked-out Mini logos and gloss-black exterior accents for a sportier look.
Inside, the theme continues with special detailing. The door sills feature '1965 Victory Edition' branding, and the doors highlight the names of Mäkinen and Easter. The leather sports steering wheel includes a multi-colour marker at the six o'clock position along with a '1965' emblem. The same badge appears on the centre storage lid, which is trimmed in a fabric-style material and includes a pull-strap design. Even the key fob carries the '52' insignia in black finish.
For the Indian market, the car retains the familiar 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine from the Cooper S. This four-cylinder unit develops 204 PS and 300 Nm of torque and is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission driving the front wheels. Mini claims a 0-100 kph time of 6.6 seconds and a top speed just under 240 kmph.
Details regarding the number of units allocated to India and pricing are yet to be confirmed. For reference, the standard Cooper S with the JCW Pack is currently priced from Rs 55.15 lakh (ex-showroom).
