Mercedes-Benz launches S-Class and C-Class Cabriolets in India
Mercedes-Benz is on a roll this year. Having launched nine new cars this year and offering a compete petrol portfolio across all models, the German carmaker has just completed its cabriolet portfolio with the launch of the S-Class and C-Class Cabriolets.
The S 500 Cabriolet uses a 4,663cc, petrol V8 motor that makes 455PS and 700Nm of torque and claims an acceleration time of 4.6 seconds to hit 100kmph. Like the sedan, the Cabriolet gets the Airmatic suspension and a 9G-TRONIC gearbox. It also gets the Swarovski crystal-studded headlights and a huge list of options for customising your interiors and exteriors.The highlight, of course, is the soft top that retracts in a mere 17 seconds at up to 50kmph.The car also gets AIRCAP, Merc's turbulence and cabin noise reduction tech that makes for a more peaceful top-down motoring experience. Standard S-Class features get carried over like the 360-degree parking camera, HUD, COMMAND system, Burmester audio, night view assist and LED intelligent lights. Price? A cool Rs 2.25 crore, ex-Delhi.
The other car, the C 300 Cabriolet, joins the E and S cabs to complete the line-up and is priced at Rs 60 lakh, ex-Delhi. It is powered by a 1,991cc 4-cylinder petrol motor that makes 245PS and 370Nm. Mercedes claims a 0-100kmph time of 6.4 seconds. The car gets the 9G-TRONIC gearbox with DYNAMIC SELECT that lets you choose between ECO, Comfort, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual drive modes. The fabric soft top is available in four colours and opens in roughly 20 seconds at speeds up to 50kmph. It claims to be the quietest soft top in the segment.
