Mercedes-Benz India to digitise its purchase and ownership experience

The India division of the German carmaker, Mercedes-Benz India announced its digitisation plans for India. As a part of the process, the company has launched portals and e-commerce websites to ease the car purchasing and owning experience for its Indian buyers. Additionally, Mercedes-Benz India has announced its leap in customer data protection legislation as the manufacturer is now compliant with European 'General Data Protection Regulation' (GDPR).

On the retail front, Mercedes-Benz India has launched an online car configurator that allows its potential buyers to customise a model of their choice. Following which, the Mercedes-Benz cAR application will be launched in India which, with the help of augmented technology, allows customers to virtually test-drive a 3D Mercedes-Benz model.

Mercedes-Benz India will soon be launching an e-commerce website for a hassle-free purchase experience of its pre-owned, as well as new cars, from October 1, 2019, and January 1, 2020 respectively. The e-commerce portal will have the car delivered to your doorstep should you wish.

Mercedes-Benz's 'Mercedes Me' programme will be launched in India on November 15, 2019, in a phased manner. In the first phase, Mercedes-Benz plans to introduce the 'Mercedes me connect' adapter that plugs in Mercedes-Benz's OBD port manufactured after 2007. The 'Mercedes me connect' adapter will be offered for an introductory cost of Rs 5,000. However, Mercedes-Benz is offering the adapter free of cost for its customer's who have purchased the Mercedes-Benz in the year 2019.

The second phase includes the e-sim based 'Mercedes me connect' services that will be available for select models. Some of the features of the 'Mercedes me connect' include remote lock-unlock, vehicle locator, 'send destination to car', remote retrieval of vehicle status, valet protect, speed alert and tele-diagnostics.

The third phase will see the launch of MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) in India. MBUX is a virtual assistant 'Hey Mercedes' interface that is equipped in cars sold in the international market. The programme also includes an online service estimator that will allow its customers to find the price of the periodic maintenance, car detailing services and spare parts.
