Mercedes-Benz G 450d launched at Rs 2.9 Crore

Mercedes-Benz India has launched the new G 450d at Rs 2.9 crore(ex-showroom). The G 450d replaces the earlier G 400d variant with upgraded performance, mild-hybrid technology and enhanced off-road features.

In terms of design, the G 450d maintains the G-Class silhouette with upright body lines, flat glass panels, exposed hinges and the side-mounted spare wheel. Mercedes has done subtle updates to the aerodynamics, LED lighting and body panels of the 450d. 

In terms of interior, the dashboard is updated with an MBUX infotainment system, with dual 12.3-inch displays, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and materials including leather upholstery and open-pore wood trim. The G 450d also includes the "Off-Road Cockpit" function, offering real-time data on gradient, steering angle and differential lock status. 

Mercedes-Benz claims the G 450d continues to deliver the same capabilities, i.e, a 35° approach angle, 30° departure angle and a 700mm wading depth. The model also offers adaptive damping suspension for better comfort and control on different terrains. 

In terms of performance, the G 450d can sprint from 0-100 kmph in 5.8 seconds with a top electronically limited speed of 210kmph. The Mercedes-Benz G 450d competes with other off-road SUVs such as the Range Rover, Lexus LX500d and Toyota Land Cruiser 300.
