Maruti Suzuki upcoming MPV to debut on July 5

We've known for a while now that Maruti Suzuki would introduce an all-new premium MPV in India and that quite obviously would be will be none other than the Toyota Innova Hycross-based model. Maruti Suzuki has now confirmed that the will be introduced on July 5 and will go on sale later in July via Maruti's Nexa dealerships. This new MPV will most likely be called the Engage.

Maruti Suzuki is already on an SUV push with the Fronx and the Jimny joining the brand's portfolio. The automaker also suggested that the Engage, which will be built on Toyota Motor's successful Innova, may not be as volume driven as other Maruti vehicles.

Maruti Suzuki Engage: Details

Maruti's version of the Innova Hycross, like every other joint model between Maruti and Toyota thus previously, would have somewhat distinct design elements exclusive to the automaker to identify it from its Toyota cousin.

The new Maruti Suzuki MPV will be built on the Toyota TNGA-C design. As per sources, the Maruti Suzuki Engage MPV would only be offered with the 2.0-litre petrol engine combined with a hybrid powertrain. The former is calibrated to produce 174PS and 206Nm of torque. The only gearbox option will be an e-CVT unit.

We anticipate that Maruti's Hycross-based MPV would borrow most features from the top-spec ZX and ZX(O) variants. A 360-degree camera, ADAS, a panoramic sunroof, a three-zone temperature control system, and a motorized driver seat with memory function are all plausible.

Maruti Suzuki and Toyota: Partnership

The upcoming luxury MPV will be the first Toyota model that Maruti Suzuki would rebadge. Toyota will manufacture it in Bidadi and supply it to Maruti Suzuki.

Toyota-Suzuki-built cars such as the now-discontinued Vitara Brezza SUV and the Baleno have been cross-badged and sold in India as the Toyota Urban Cruiser and the Glanza since the alliance's beginning in 2017. In some areas, the latest-generation Baleno, Ciaz, Ertiga, and even the Celerio are offered as Toyotas.

Currently, the Toyota Innova Hycross retails from Rs 18.55 lakh to Rs 29.99 lakh.
