Maruti Suzuki Fronx Flex-Fuel concept to debut at 2025 Japan Mobility Show
Maruti Suzuki is set to unveil the Fronx Flex-Fuel concept at the upcoming Japan Mobility Show 2025.
- The Fronx Flex-Fuel Concept is built around a tweaked version of the existing 1.2-litre petrol engine, adapted to run on ethanol blends upto E85 (i.e, 85% ethanol).
- Design changes are minimal; it largely retains the visual identity of the Standard Fronx, with "Flex-Fuel" decals.
- Suzuki describes it as a reference exhibit (concept under development) that uses ethanol fuel under its "multi-pathway" approach to carbon neutrality. The concept will be part of Suzuki's showcase lineup at the Tokyo Big Sight venue from Oct 30 to Nov 9, 2025.
While the technical specifications are yet to be revealed, the known details include that the flex-fuel version uses the same 1.2L petrol engine platform, modified to accept ethanol blends ranging from E20 to E85. This approach is in line with Suzuki's "multi-pathway" strategy, which includes flex-fuel, CBG (Compressed Biomethane Gas), and BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) platforms.
In terms of exterior, the key differences are that the flex-fuel decals and badging visually distinguish it from standard petrol variants. No major body, aero or structural changes have been announced in the concept form.
The Front Flex-Fuel Concept is just one piece of Suzuki's mobility showcase. Under the booth's theme "By Your Side", Suzuki will present multiple concept and production models, focusing on customer mobility and technologies. Other reveals include the Vision e-Sky BEV Concept and the e-Every commercial van concept.
