Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 facelift launched at Rs 2.93 lakh, comes with BSVI compliant engine

Maruti Suzuki has updated its entry-level hatchback the Alto 800 and has launched it at Rs 2.93 lakh, ex-showroom. The changes that have done to the hatchback consists of tweaks in the design along with additional features over the previous iteration. Most importantly, the 2019 Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 now comes equipped with a BSVI compliant engine, a year before the regulation comes into effect.

In terms of design, the 2019 Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 gets a new grille, updated headlight design and newly designed bumper and side fenders. The updated hatchback comes in uptown red, superior white, silky silver, granite grey, mojito green, cerulian blue. Inside, the hatchback comes with dual tone interiors and seats. It gets a new dashboard design, updated instrument cluster along with new front and rear bottle holders making it more practical than before.  Additionally, it gets Smart Play Dock infotainment system with bluetooth. This unit offers a touch interface to access calls, music, navigation and more. Also, Maruti Suzuki will be offering keyless entry in the new Alto 800. The safety features include anti-lock braking system and electronic brake force distribution system. Maruti Suzuki also mentions that the updated Alto 800 complies with upcoming crash and pedestrian safety regulation.

Maruti Suzuki mentions that the BS-VI compliant engine's emissions amounts to a substantial reduction, (nearly 25 per cent) of Nitrogen Oxides (NOx), in vehicular emission. To achieve this stringent emission regulation requirement, Maruti Suzuki has upgraded engine hardware and software with update to the exhaust system. The stringent emission requirement is ensured with extensive and rigorous field tests in actual Indian driving conditions. The 799cc engine makes 47PS at 6,000rpm and generates 69Nm at 3,500rpm
