Locally-assembled Mercedes-Benz EQS EV launched in India, prices start from Rs 1.55 crore
Mercedes-Benz has launched the Mercedes-EQ EQS electric luxury sedan in India. This S-Class equivalent EV is the first one to be locally assembled by the firm in India at its Chakan facility near Pune. This is the first facility outside of Germany to manufacture the EQS. Prices for the Mercedes EQS 580 start from Rs 1.55 crore.
Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 battery, range, performanceThe Mercedes EQS will be available in India in its top EQS 580 dual-motor guise. This version has a WLTP certified range of 676 km making it the longest range EV in India, the ARAI certification is 857 km. The EQS 580 uses a large 107.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that can be charged at up 200 kW with a DC fast charger. This can top up the battery to 80 per cnet in 31. An 11 kW AC charger takes 10 hours, which is halved by a 22 kW option.
The Mercedes-Benz EQS is based on a bespoke EV architecture not shared with the combustion-engined S-Class. It has a low drag-coefficient of 0.20. The EQS 580 makes 523PS and 855 Nm and can do 0 to 100 kmph in 4.3s. The EQS can recoup up to 290 kW using an auto-regen mode.
Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 features, techThe Mercedes-Benz EQS gets a host of features like the digital lights, the massive 56-inch MBUX Hyperscreen, rear-wheel steer, 15-speaker Burmeister audio, sound modes, powered doors, HEPA air filter among others.
The EQS has 9 airbags, lane keeping aid, active brake assist and pre-safe.
Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 price, rivalsThe Mercedes-Benz EQS is priced at Rs 1.55 crore. It has no direct rivals in India currently although the other four-door luxury EVs available here are the Porsche Taycan and the Audi e-tron GT. The EQS has a two-year service interval and an 8 year/unlimited km battery warranty.
