Kia EV6 bookings to re-open on April 15 in India
After having delivered over 432 units of Kia EV6 in 2022, Kia India has announced it'll open the order books for the 2023 batch of the EV6 on April 15. Kia India has priced the EV6 from Rs 60.95 lakh for the GT Line and Rs 65.95 lakh for the GT Line AWD (ex-showroom). Kia India also plans to expand its EV dealership network from the current 15 outlets in 12 cities to 60 outlets in 44 cities and inevitably increase its 150 kW high-speed charger network from the existing 15 dealerships to all 60 outlets.
Despite the prolonged wait caused by global supply chain challenges last year, Kia managed to release sales figures for the EV6 in a record seven months. Kia India claims that final deliveries for the Indian market were more than four times more than anticipated.
Tae-Jin Park, MD & CEO, of Kia India, said "For this year, we are focussing on importing more products to cater to the audiences who couldn't get their hands on the premium car last year by expanding our dealer network. We are confident that the EV6 will continue to lead the premium EV segment with its splendid performance in the market."
While the winner of the 2023 Green Car Award by ICOTY does behold quite a price tag, it does come with the aesthetics and features to speak for itself. The EV6 features a large electric sunroof, powered tailgate, dual 12.3-inch screens for the infotainment and driver's instrumentation, a large heads-up display with augmented reality and a 14-speaker Meridian sound system.
A 77.4kWh battery pack is standard, capable of delivering up to 708km of ARAI-tested range. Speaking specifics of the drivetrains, the Kia EV6 in its single-motor layout produces 229PS/350Nm torque, while the dual-motor AWD model produces 325PS/605Nm torque. Both can accept up to 350kW charge rates, for a 10-80 per cent charge in just 18 minutes, while a 50kW fast charger will achieve the same feat in 73 minutes.
The EV6 also comes standard with a comprehensive set of driving assistance systems (ADAS), including lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, forward collision avoidance, and blind-spot collision avoidance help. The EV6 rivals the Volvo XC40 Recharge, BMW i4 and its South Korean cousin, the Hyundai Ioniq 5.
