Indimotard-OVERDRIVE's motorcycle riding school 2018 calendar is out!

India's oldest motorcycle riding school, the TWO Track Riding School by Indimotard and OVERDRIVE has announced its 2018 calendar. This year, the school takes a big step forward by adding new locations. TWO School is now also accredited with the FMSCI, which means students can use their time at the school towards getting their race licences. However, unlike the other schools in India, TWO is not about racing. It's a riding school where the instructors' focus is on riding motorcycles faster and safer. Lap times and race-winning strategy is not part of the curriculum. We use the racetrack because it's the safest, most distraction-free environment to learn the art of motorcycles.

The instructors

TWO School is led by Indimotard's founder, Anand Dharmaraj. Anand is the youngest 50-year-old you will ever meet. He's raced at the club level in the US - against MotoGP rider John Hopkins no less, rides off-road and conducts tours in India and outside. He also runs Bangalore's sweetest motorcycle garage, the Indimotard Greasehouse.

There are three other instructors who teach at TWO School currently. That includes our editor Shumi. Shumi has been road testing for 18 years now and has been a student at TWO before taking on the role of instructor.

Daniel Anandaraj or Dodo, is from Chennai and works a regular type job on most days. But on TWO School weekends, he's amongst the most popular instructors, blending his laid-back, relaxed attitude, awesome riding skills, a mandatory post-lunch siesta and his trademark well-ventilated leathers into an unmissable combination.

Vignessh Vaidyanathan is the fourth and amongst the fastest of the quartet. He's also the quietest, most precise and most thoughtful of the instructors. His methodical approach to riding offers new perspective and a calmer way to think about riding better and faster.

The instructors are backed up by Pavan Shrikanth of Indimotard and Bharath Raju, who (more or less) volunteers his weekends to TWO School. Together Shrikanth and Bharath make the TWO School run smoothly as it has for over seven years now.

What's in Level 1

The level 1 programme is the foundation of riding well. Students need to already know to how operate a motorcycle. The two-day curriculum deals with the essential skill of throttle control and then moves on to honing vision for smooth, swift riding.

What's Level 2

The Level 2 programme is built on top of the Level 1 - and students must have finished Level 1 with TWO School to sign up. The Level 2 course material works on advanced vision, body positioning, and other topics.

Open session

Open sessions are the same as track days, except that all participants must have attended at least a TWO Level 1 School before. Riders get track time while the school students are in the classroom. You will ride in either an intermediate and a fast group, and you will have the full track at your disposal for the weekend.

What do you need to bring?

The tuition includes lunch and water on both days at the track. Indimotard also organises a complimentary pick-up and drop-off daily from a pre-designated spot in Coimbatore. You need to organise your stay - Indimotard does have discounted arrangements with hotels.
Fuel stations are right outside both the race tracks and they accept credit cards.
At this time, motorcycle rentals are not possible through Indimotard or OVERDRIVE, though.

Riding gear?

Indimotard and OVERDRIVE strongly recommend leathers for the racetrack. However, students at TWO School, especially Level 1 can attend in full riding gear that passes the TWO School's safety inspection. Full street gear means a helmet in good condition, gloves in good condition, an armoured riding jacket in good condition, over the ankle leather boots and at least knee protection if not armoured riding pants.
