Maruti Suzuki S-Cross launched in India at Rs 8.34 lakh

The much awaited Maruti Suzuki S-Cross has beenÂ launched in India at Rs 8.34 lakh- Rs 13.74 lakh (ex-Delhi). The S-Cross will be sold through Maruti'sÂ new premium Nexa dealerships that have been set up across prime locations in the country.Â This is Maruti Suzuki's next attempt at taking on the premium segment after the Kizashi and Grand Vitara failed in India

We drove the 1.6-litre diesel variant and were quite impressed by it. The S-Cross is also offered with the 1.3-litre diesel engine seen in the Ciaz and Ertiga. The 1.6-litre motor which is sourced from Fiat will be mated to a 6-speed manual, while the 1.3-variant gets the 5-speed manual. The 1.3-litreÂ produces 90PS while the 1.6 makes 120PS. The 1.6 variant also gets ventilated discs up front and solid discs at the rear.

The S-Cross is available in four trims - Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. All trims get twin airbags and ABS as standard. The Alpha variant gets a touchscreen AVN, keyless entry and ignition and auto day/night mirrors among other features. The S-Cross is offered internationally with an optional AWD systemÂ butÂ the Indian market misses out on that too. This is Maruti's entrant into the battle between the Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and Ford EcoSport.
