Honda Cars India start production of the new generation Honda City

The Japanese car manufacturer has announced that its highly anticipated Honda City will be launched in July and the company has already commenced production of the 5th generation Honda City at its plant in Greater Noida. The company resumed production from mid-June while adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines for preventing the spread of COVID-19 virus.

The car is based on an all-new platform and because of that it has grown in size, the company claims that it is the longest and widest in the segment. The exteriors design changes include a new grille sleeker LED headlamps and new DRL pattern, alloy wheels, split tail lights with Z shaped LED signature.

And the feature list covers an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Amazon Alexa, Honda Connect suite with 32 car features, 6.9-inch HD TFT instrument cluster, automatic headlamps, push start/stop button, electric sunroof and more.

Safety features include ABS with EBD, six airbags, reverse parking camera, speed alert system, cruise control, lane-watch camera, agile handling assist, tyre pressure monitoring system, vehicle stability assist, emergency stop signal, and hill start assist.

The car will be offered with a choice of petrol and diesel engines, the 1.5-litre petrol engine produces 121PS at 6,600 rpm and generates 145Nm at 4,300rpm. This engine can be optioned with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed CVT. And the 1.5L i-DTEC that makes 100PS at 3,600rpm and generates 200Nm at 1,750rpm mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. When launched it will lock horns with the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, Skoda Rapid, and Volkswagen Vento.
