Here is a BMW G 310 GS customised by German parts specialist Hornig
The BMW Motorrad G 310 GS is just days away from launch in India. Meanwhile, German custom parts specialist Hornig has already put out a G 310 GS kitted out with its accessories. Hornig is known for its customisation on the larger BMW R 1200 GS and the kit for the smaller G 310 GS is inspired by the same. The upgrades are all aimed as an extension of the long-range as well as off-road capabilities of the stock motorcycle. This entry-level adventure tourer will be launched in India along with its street-oriented sibling, the G 310 R on July 18, 2018. Expect pricing to be in the range of Rs3.5 lakh to Rs 4 lakh for the two motorcycles.
The first thing you will notice about the Hornig-customised BMW G 310 GS is the metallic blue paint and neon yellow accents. These accents, also found on the seat and wheel rims, aid visibility. The Hornig kit increases storage space by added a tank bag and panniers which are installed on a special mounting kit, along with a rack-mounted tail bag. Enlargers for the brake pedal and the side stand base will increase ease of use for the G 310 GS off the road.
The kit also includes crash bobbins on the front fork ends and rear swingarm, as well as crash guards to protect engine and fairing. This should keep the G 310 GS better protected in the event of a drop. To further aid its touring capabilities, Hornig has also added mirror extension, a taller touring windscreen, a universal GPS mount, and a slightly modified which it claims is more comfortable than the stock item.
With KTM having announced recently that its 390 Adventure will make its India debut in 2019, will a kit like this make the G 310 GS more capable than its rival? We don't know yet but stay tuned as we find out.
