Mahindra XEV 9e wins Green Car Award 2026 at ICOTY 2026
The ICOTY is the most prestigious automotive award in India, and the winners have been selected by 19 decorated judges representing esteemed publications, which also include Kranti Sambhav, Editor at OVERDRIVE and Rohit Paradkar, Assistant Editor at OVERDRIVE.
The panel consists of seasoned experts from esteemed publications that will evaluate the nominations on the basis of key factors such as performance, practicality, frugality, and safety, to name a few. Every year, the ICOTY jury nominates eight contenders in each of the categories. This year's nominees for the Green Car Award 2026 were – BMW iX1 LWB, BY Sealion 7, Hyundai Creta Electric, Kia Carens Clavis EV, MG Cyberster, Mahindra XEV 9E, Tata Harrier EV and Tesla Model Y.
And this year's Green Car Award 2026 by ICOTY goes to the Mahindra XEV 9e.
The XEV 9e was a bold statement and has significantly achieved what even tough contenders couldn't. Launched as part of Mahindra's next-generation electric SUV lineup, the XEV 9e has quickly captured attention for its competitive driving range, advanced technology, and modern design. Built on Mahindra's dedicated INGLO platform, the SUV delivers an estimated range of over 500 km per charge and is equipped with Level 2 ADAS and fast-charging capability, features that have resonated with both customers and critics alike.
The XEV 9e comes with two battery pack options a 59 kWh and a 79 kWh producing 230 to 285 PS of power and 380 Nm of torque, making it quick on its feet, despite of its practical, luxurious and safe package.
The XEV has been a surprise package on the tech front as well, with the triple screen setup, new artificial intelligence system MAIA and a band of uber cool features also makes it quite an aspirational vehicle for the growing EV owner base in the country.
