Frankfurt Auto Show 2013: Suzuki Swift 2014

While the audience assembled at Frankfurt was witness to Suzuki's iV4 SUV concept, the brand also unveiled a facelifted Swift. The 2014 Swift comprises of a few aesthetic modifications and feature additions. The powertrain options though do not change.

The changes in the cosmetic department include LED day time running lights punted into the fog lamp housing. The LED package continues at the rear with the taillights getting them all the way to the roof. The front bumper gets a slight revision with silver accents. The top variants get 16" alloys and lower variants get newly designed wheel caps. There is also a new 'Boost Blue Pearl' metallic paint job. On the inside, the refreshed Swift gets new upholstery, the one-touch auto-up driver's side power window, automatic headlamps and electrically adjustable OVRMs.

The Swift continues to be powered by the same engines. Options include the 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine and the 1.3-litre Fiat Multijet turbo diesel engine. The usual 5-speed manual transmission remains the same. A small tweak though has been made to the diesel unit, which now emits less CO2 at 101g/km and delivers better fuel efficiency of 25.63kmpl.

The all new Swift was launched in India in 2011. With the hatchback segment getting fiercely competitive and 2014 bringing in the new Swift's third year, Maruti could very well bring in this facelift for the Indian Swift. See you at the Auto Expo then!
