Ferrari 849 Testarossa Makes India Debut

Italian luxury carmaker Ferrari has marked a historic milestone in India with the national premiere of the Ferrari 849 Testarossa in Mumbai. The unveiling took place at the Jio World Convention Centre and represents the first time Ferrari has hosted a national reveal event in the country.

The presentation was led by Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna and Chief Marketing & Commercial Officer Enrico Galliera. The event unfolded in two phases: a daytime technical showcase for media, followed by an exclusive evening gala attended by more than 500 Ferrari clients and enthusiasts.

The 849 Testarossa arrives as Ferrari's new flagship plug-in hybrid berlinetta, effectively replacing the Ferrari SF90 Stradale at the top of the brand's performance range. Power comes from a re-engineered 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 paired with three electric motors, producing a combined output of 1,050 PS. Performance figures are equally staggering, with a claimed 0–100 km/h time of under 2.3 seconds and a top speed exceeding 330 km/h.

The hybrid system also enables an eDrive mode with 163 PS and up to 25 km of electric range, while advanced electronic systems such as ABS Evo, the FIVE vehicle dynamics estimator, and Ferrari's latest Side Slip Control aim to maximise performance and stability.

Speaking at the event, Vigna highlighted India's importance to Ferrari's global strategy, noting the country's entrepreneurial spirit and growing community of young performance-car enthusiasts. Ferrari currently supports its Indian clients through dealerships in Mumbai and New Delhi, along with a service point in Bengaluru.

With the 849 Testarossa's debut, Ferrari is signalling its long-term commitment to India's rapidly expanding luxury and high-performance car market.
