Continental CrossContact AT2 All Terrain Tyre Launched in India
Continental Tires has launched the CrossContact A/T² all-terrain tyre in India, strengthening its presence in the country's rapidly expanding SUV and 4x4 segment. The new tyre was introduced at the Continental Tires Track Day 2026, held at Dot Goa 4X4, where its off-road capabilities were demonstrated across varied terrain.
Our experience at the off-roading circuit was an interesting one. Out of the two tracks, standard and extreme, I drove through the standard track under expert supervision, and it could be said that the promises that are being made by Continental about the tyres are not hogwash. My drive through different patches of rock, water, steep inclines and declines and deep ditches, the most noticeable fact was the reduced noise. The tyres are the first thing to come in contact with the surface, and it absorbs the primary shocks, which these tyres did with ease, supporting the suspension all while keeping the tyre noise to a minimum. The extreme track, however, was more challenging with steeper declines and 45-degree climbs. The 18-inch tyres on the Thar worked their way through the despicable ruggedness with ease.
India is among the first global markets to receive the CrossContact A/T², highlighting Continental's growing focus on localising products for Indian driving conditions. Developed for SUVs, pickup trucks and 4x4 utility vehicles, the CrossContact A/T² is designed to offer a balance between confident on-road behaviour and serious off-road performance.
At the core of the tyre is Continental's TRACTION PLUS technology, which improves grip, durability and traction across multiple surfaces, including mud, gravel, sand, wet roads and rocky trails. The tyre also features the BlackPaw compound, engineered to maintain elasticity and traction across varying temperatures and road conditions.
Other key highlights include self-cleaning shoulder blocks with stone ejectors to prevent debris buildup, rigid tread block geometry to reduce hydroplaning and improved braking performance, and reinforced sidewalls for enhanced resistance against cuts and abrasions during off-road use.
According to Continental, the CrossContact A/T² is aimed at customers with adventure-focused lifestyles who demand versatility without compromising everyday comfort. However, experts at the off-roading facility took the tyres to be tested on the highway, and the results were exceedingly positive.
The new all-terrain tyre is available across Continental's authorised dealerships and over 200 brand stores nationwide. It is offered in multiple sizes ranging from 215/70 R15 to 285/60 R18, making it compatible with a wide range of popular SUVs and 4x4 vehicles sold in India.
