While the chemistry remains the same, the company has made significant changes to the internal structure and cooling system of the battery. These updates are designed to improve efficiency during everyday driving as well as when the vehicle is charging. As the electric vehicle market continues to grow, faster charging and improved energy storage have become important areas of development for manufacturers.

One of the key highlights of the updated Blade battery is its extremely fast charging ability. According to BYD, the battery can charge from 10 percent to 70 percent in around five minutes. This is made possible through a new high-voltage system that can safely handle much higher current levels than before.

To complement this technology, BYD has also developed a powerful 1,500 kW flash charging unit. The charger works in combination with the battery's advanced thermal management system to control temperatures during rapid charging.

The second-generation Blade battery also retains the structural battery layout first introduced with the original design. In this setup, the battery cells are integrated into the vehicle structure, allowing them to contribute to the rigidity of the chassis while also making better use of available space within the platform.

Another improvement comes in the form of higher energy density. This allows electric vehicles equipped with the new battery to travel further on a single charge without increasing the overall size of the battery pack.

BYD says production of the new-generation Blade battery will begin soon, and the technology will be used in its upcoming electric vehicles for global markets.
