BMW M2 CS launched at Rs 1.66 crore
BMW India has introduced the BMW M2 CS in the country, bringing in the hardcore version of its compact performance coupe as a fully imported model. Available in limited numbers, the M2 CS is priced at Rs 1.66 crore (ex-showroom) and marks the first time this badge has officially arrived in India.
- 3.0-litre engine pushing 530 PS and 650 NmÂ
- 0-100 kmph in 3.8 seconds
- Features a head-up display, Harman Kardon audio system, lap timer, drift analyser and dedicated track mode
At the heart of the new M2 CS is a 3.0-litre, inline six-cylinder petrol engine equipped with M TwinPower Turbo technology. It produces 530 PS and 650 Nm of torque, making it the most powerful M2 to date. Power is sent exclusively to the rear wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission. BMW claims the car can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.8 seconds, while the top speed is rated at 302 kmph with the standard M Driver's Package.
Interestingly, the engine shares its core architecture with the unit used in the BMW M4 GT3 EVO, and features motorsport-derived components such as a forged crankshaft and a reinforced crankcase for added durability under extreme conditions.
Weight reduction has also been a key focus. The M2 CS is around 30 kg lighter than the regular M2, thanks to extensive use of carbon fibre. Components like the roof, boot lid, rear diffuser and mirror caps are all made from lightweight materials, helping improve both performance and agility.
BMW has also revised the chassis setup. The car sits 8 mm lower than the standard model, and the suspension along with electronic control systems has been recalibrated for sharper handling, particularly during spirited driving.
In terms of design, the M2 CS stands apart with a more aggressive look. It features a ducktail-style rear spoiler, revised front grille and larger air intakes, along with unique CS-specific detailing. Buyers can choose from colours such as Brooklyn Grey, Portimao Blue, Black Sapphire, and select BMW Individual shades.
Inside, the cabin continues the performance-focused theme. It comes equipped with carbon bucket seats, an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel and Merino leather upholstery. The car also features BMW's latest Operating System 8.5 with a fully digital interface. Key features include a head-up display, Harman Kardon audio system and M Drive Professional, which adds track-focused functions like a lap timer, drift analyser and dedicated track mode.
BMW also highlights the M2 CS's track credentials, stating that it holds the record as the fastest compact car to lap the Nürburgring Nordschleife, with a time of 7 minutes and 25.5 seconds.
